Not all superheroes wear capes, some teach!

I remember at age sixteen when I decided that teaching was for me. People told me that it was beneath me and I should pursue other opportunities. This infuriated me then, and still does to this day. It has driven me to do everything in my power to turn the tide and shine a light on the teaching profession. Fast forward and I’ve now been a teacher for six years. I’ve known from that very first moment on my very first day when I opened my classroom doors that I am exactly where I need to be. Teachers make a difference every day and in so many ways. The potential that we have to influence today’s youth is profound and immeasurable. In my short career, I’ve already had one of the students I taught pull me out of a crowd years later as a young adult and say, ‘Hey, you made a difference in my life!’ The impact of a teacher lasts a lifetime and the feeling of knowing that you have impacted someone’s life cannot be rivalled. Not all superheroes wear capes, some teach. I have the absolute honour and privilege of being able to do both!
