Living and working in regional and remote WA, I have a passion for teaching in small communities, taking advantage of the cultural opportunities to teach in a two-way team with the Indigenous Elders and community members. I believe in the well-being and mental health of educators and advocate strongly for myself and my colleagues to ensure that our needs and workloads are respected and valued. Having lived and worked in small communities for over 15 years, I am also all about community engagement. I’ve been a St John Ambulance volunteer for 12 years and am a Member of the Order of St John. I have previously also been an active volunteer firey and encourage new to town and new to education to join a community group, in-line with the Act-Belong-Commit message of positive mental health. I became a teacher because I had inspirational teachers myself! They showed me how individuals can and do make a difference. I teach in regional and remote Australia because I believe that all students deserve the same access to high quality education!
