Have you ever had a student propose to you? I will never forget the day when one of my students, five-years-old and full of courage, brought his mother's engagement ring to school to ask me if I would marry him! I had to phone his mother to ask if she was missing a ring, and then wear the ring on my finger for the rest of the day for safe keeping! Student-teacher relationships are vital for learning. When we have their trust, they have our education. Teaching from the heart has certainly worked for me.... maybe that's why I accepted dear Thomas' proposal all those years ago. He was going to get back to me when he was grown up! I wonder where he is now?! Teaching, the most creative and rewarding profession in the world! .
