I entered the teaching profession with some trepidation. Changing careers is always daunting but becoming a teacher was the best decision for me. Being a doctor was fulfilling but being a teacher is rewarding on so many levels. It also gives me the opportunity to give back. Teachers have a significant influence on the next generation and this cannot be taken lightly. A great teacher shapes not just a child’s learning pathway but more importantly their growth as an individual. A holistic approach which focuses on the child is valuable. I plan to incorporate my medical background into my teaching career to enhance my students’ educational experiences. I hope to be a positive role model for my students and develop their sense of self, so they may be successful wherever their life may take them.
